If you’ve hired a marketing agency to manage your Facebook ads, one of the first steps is to grant them access to your Facebook Ad Account. By doing this, your agency can create, manage, and optimize your ad campaigns without requiring full ownership of your account. Below are the exact steps to securely share access to your Facebook Ad Account with a partner.

Why Share Access Instead of Giving Your Login?

It’s important to never share your personal Facebook login details with anyone, even trusted partners. Instead, Facebook provides a secure way to grant access through Meta Business Manager (formerly Facebook Business Manager). This allows you to:

  • Control who has access and what permissions they have.
  • Maintain full ownership of your Ad Account.
  • Revoke access at any time if needed.

Step 1: Check If Your Business Is Set Up in Meta Business Manager

To manage ad accounts properly, your business should be set up in Meta Business Manager. If you haven’t done this yet, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Meta Business Manager (business.facebook.com).
  2. Click Create Account and enter your business details.
  3. Follow the setup instructions and verify your business email.

If you already have a Business Manager account, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Add the Agency to Your Business Manager

Now that your Business Manager is set up, you can add your marketing agency as a partner to your account.

  1. Log into Meta Business Manager and go to Business Settings.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click on Partners under the “Users” section.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. Select Give a Partner Access to Your Assets.

  5. Enter the agency’s Business Manager ID (they should provide this to you).

  6. Choose the Ad Account(s) and other assets you want to share with them.  You can select multiple ad accounts, pages, Instagram accounts, pixels, or other assets in your account to share with this partner.
  7. Assign the necessary permissions:
    • If they are running and managing your ads and marketing, grant Full Control. (You still own the assets.)
    • If they only need certain limited access, you can assign Partial Access.
  8. Click Save or Confirm.

Once done, your marketing agency will receive an invitation to access your ad account.

Step 3: Confirm the Agency Has Access

After completing these steps, ask your marketing agency to confirm they have received access to your Ad Account. They should now be able to:

  • Create and launch ad campaigns.
  • Manage and optimize existing ads.
  • Track and report on ad performance.

How to Remove or Edit Access

If you ever need to remove or modify an agency’s access, you can do so easily:

  1. Go to Business SettingsPartners.
  2. Find the agency you want to remove.
  3. Click on their name and select Remove or adjust their permissions.

This gives you full control over who can access your ad account at any time.
